I live in a shoebox in downtown Toronto.  Sometimes I like to write about the things that I see and experience and share it with my friends.

There is only one rule for this blog – express yourself coherently, disagree if you must, but always play nice with the other kids.

Compliments for the owner are always welcome.  You can reach me at shoeboxdweller (at) gmail (dot) com.

(Compliment:) Well, your blog overall is admirable, both the presentation and your writing. I wish I were capable of as much, especially if confined in a shoebox.
(Criticism:)However, as your blog is bound to be influential, could you please stop using “but hey….., right?” as it’s really rather irritating when repeated a lot, not only by you.

OH and while I’m here, is there any chance of North Americans – and their imitators elsewhere – moving away from saying “nauseous” when they don’t mean nausea-inducing but actually queasy/unwell/sick/ill/nauseATED? This must have begun as an attempt to sound medical, or more elegant. But a nauseous mess doesn’t mean the mess feels sick, it means the mess makes YOU feel sick. I’m reminded of a friend of mine who used to baffle me saying things like “let’s take a gambit” and “whichever you like, I’m ambivalent”. There has to be some logic in language, and even when a malapropism has become common usage, fashion can still move away from it…

    Best regards,
    Dennis
